A sports festival was held at the Burevestnik Stadium of Tula State University last weekend. The football tournament was played between citizens of the socialist republic of Vietnam living in Tula and the Tula region. The event was in tune with Vietnam's most important national holiday - Independence day. Vietnamese Independence day has been celebrated on September 2 since the year 1945, when the country’s leader Ho Chi Minh promulgated the declaration of independence and proclaimed it.
More than 50 representatives from Vietnam study at the university. The vietnamese community is one of the largest at Tula State University noted Olga Dmitrievna Gladkova director of the institute of international education. Despite the rain, the sports festival went well! And, of course, friendship won! The Vietnamese are distinguished by their diligence in their studies and traditionally there are excellent students among them. They value Russian education very much and know exactly why they came to our country. However the life of Vietnamese students within the walls of Tula State University is not limited only to academic studies. The football sporting event combines two important occasions at once- Vietnamese Independence Day and Knowledge Day in Russia - is a clear confirmation of this.
Students from Vietnam studying at the Tula State University took part in the football tournament, as well as representatives of the Vietnamese community of Tula, an organization that provides assistance to Vietnamese compatriots in adaptaint to Russian culture, becoming familiar with the Russian legislation and overcoming the language barrier.
